Stefan Chin was quoted in a Daily Business Review article on March 2, 2015. The article, titled “Legislative Bills Would Make Life Easier for Contractors, Designers,” focused on proposed legislation related to construction defect litigation and funding for affordable housing. House Bill 87 and related Senate Bill 418 – proposing revisions to Chapter 558, Florida Statutes – would, among other things, require litigants to provide more detailed information when filing claim notices. According to Mr. Chin, recipients of Chapter 558 notices “have often been faced with defect claims that are ambiguous, inadequately supported and documented, and subject to change.” Mr. Chin also stated, “[a]s a result, the recipient of a notice may be forced to incur significant expense investigating the claimed construction defects, some of which may not even exist or are not their fault or responsibility.”
