Lori Ann Lange, a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office and George C. Baldwin, a partner in the firm’s Austin office, will be speaking at the National Association of Surety Bond Producers 2016 Regions 4, 5, 6 & 7 meeting. The course will address the critical issues that surety bond producers must understand about joint ventures (JV) including: formation issues, types, JVs vs. teaming agreements, structure, ownership, capitalization, profits, management, equipment and manpower, subcontracting, defaults, withdrawal or dissolution, insurance and bonding, and dispute resolution. The presentation will also address special JV issues related to surety bonds, minority businesses and the False Claims Act. The panel consists of legal professionals who have spent their careers representing construction companies and sureties in all aspects of their businesses and have assisted these clients in navigating the JV waters.
