The Largest and Most Experienced Construction Practice in the United States

With offices in ten major metropolitan areas across the United States, we are staffed with more construction-focused attorneys than any other law firm in the country. The practice of Construction Law requires a highly specific, focused knowledge base not routinely encountered in other areas of practice. We understand the construction industry – the issues, processes, concepts, language, nuances, as well as the challenges faced by general contractors, construction managers, and others in the industry. Many of our attorneys possess firsthand knowledge of a client’s perspective – knowledge gained through their experience working in the industry.

For almost four decades, attorneys with Peckar & Abramson have protected the interests of clients in the construction industry, working with clients through all phases of their projects wherever the locale. We advise clients proactively on contracts, labor relations, employment law issues, and risk management. We developed a Project Support Program focusing on the early identification and resolution of disputes to assist clients in averting costly crises. When litigation proves necessary, our clients know they can rely on our experienced litigators to vigorously represent their interests. Whether we are serving the needs of clients in the U.S., Canada, Central America, South America, Asia, or in other parts of the world, our goal always remains the same: To provide clients with efficient, effective, attentive legal advice and representation, and achieve the best possible results.

A Deep Commitment to the Construction Industry

Our commitment to the construction industry includes extensive pro bono service to, and involvement with, many industry-related associations. Our relationships with these associations, as well as industry leaders, and regulators allow deep insight into the issues that matter most to our clients. These relationships also provide us with an opportunity to substantively contribute to the ongoing evolution of issues affecting not only the industry at large, but the clients we represent. When an insurance product was proposed that could assist in mitigating construction-related risk, Peckar & Abramson led the legal discussion of how it should be formulated. When new regulations are in a formative stage, our attorneys often guide the industry through the process. Our depth of involvement in the construction industry, and the knowledge we gain from it, enables us to provide our clients with a unique perspective and level of service — one which may lead clients to make decisions that result in projects that benefit from less litigation, less interaction with regulators, fewer disputes, and better financial results.

We possess in-depth knowledge of the regulatory and legal issues that affect the industry. Our immersion in the construction industry often results in us being among the first to know of developments that may impact our clients’ businesses. We make a point of promptly advising our clients when we become aware of information that is relevant to their business.

Construction Project Support Program™ - Preventative Risk Management

Our Project Support Program focuses on identifying, avoiding, and resolving disputes and potential disputes before a crisis occurs. Clients utilize our Project Support services as a means of engaging in proactive, preventative risk management — to save the time, money, and stress involved in attempting to reactively manage disputes and avoid escalation. We believe in today’s business environment our clients’ focus should be on revenue building and project completion — not litigation. We believe it is critical to assist clients in maintaining that focus whenever possible. We provide value to our clients by meeting with them regularly over the course of a project to:

  • Identify potential problems, lingering issues, and existing disputes — and take action to strategize and implement timely solutions
  • Maintain compliance with contractual notice requirements
  • Reduce and avoid confrontational relationships with project participants
  • Recommend methods of resolving problems and breaking deadlocks

Our Legacy of Loyalty

Peckar & Abramson still works with clients that started with us more than 35 years ago. There are good reasons for that. When we first opened our doors, we offered our clients the highest levels of legal knowledge, value, attentive service, and our full commitment to obtaining the best possible results. We still do.
