Awards and Recognitions
Paul Monte is the co-managing partner of the firm’s New York office. He has extensive project management, trial, arbitration, mediation, Dispute Resolution Board (DRB), and appeals experience.
Mr. Monte represents many of the nation’s and New York area’s leading civil infrastructure contractors and design-builders in commercial disputes, claims, and transactions involving bridges, tunnels, highways, industrial process and power plants, sewage treatment plants, utilities, railroads, and high-rise and institutional buildings.
As lead counsel, he has successfully handled numerous jury and non-jury trials, arbitrations, administrative and DRB hearings, and appeals in federal and state courts. Among other matters, he has prosecuted and defended claims involving delays, differing site conditions, wrongful termination, bid protests, and multidistrict litigation involving construction and material defects.
Mr. Monte has also successfully resolved delay claims and construction disputes through the alternative dispute resolution processes of multiple national and local agencies, including with the City of New York, the New York State DOT, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of New York.
On the transactional side, Mr. Monte regularly drafts and negotiates joint-venture, design-build, P3, EPC, and other complex construction-related agreements.
He often acts as project counsel to contractors on Infrastructure projects, Including bridges, tunnels, highways and railways.
Mr. Monte advises clients in the area of DMWBE and general ethics compliance and has developed effective and cost efficient compliance programs for numerous contractors.
Prior to joining Peckar & Abramson, Mr. Monte was a partner with Berman Paley Goldstein & Monte. He was also general counsel to a heavy construction company and builder and has practical experience in the field.
Mr. Monte has authored numerous articles on construction and related public procurement law topics. He has also lectured on various construction topics for bar and trade associations around the country.
