Courtney Bryan Sheaffer is an Associate in Peckar & Abramson's Houston office. Ms. Sheaffer focuses her practice on labor and employment disputes, as well as commercial litigation. Her experience includes representation of clients across various industries, including commercial real estate developers, construction companies, oil & gas service providers and equipment manufacturers, power supply manufacturers, logistics companies, grocery store chains, employee staffing companies, restaurants, healthcare, franchisee, hotel, retail, hospitality, concert venues and special events companies.

Ms. Sheaffer’s Labor & Employment experience includes representation of employers in cases involving sexual harassment, race, religion, gender, age and disability discrimination, wage and hour class actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), breaches of non-solicitation and non-compete agreements, misappropriation of confidential information and trade secrets.
She provides advisory counsel on compliance with State and Federal regulations and statutory laws, preparation of various employment agreements (including non-compete, confidentiality, independent contractor, separation agreements, compensation & commission agreements and Employee Handbooks), facilitation of trainings on regulatory and statutory compliance, and harassment & discrimination prevention and proper reporting practices. She has extensive experience before various administrative tribunals, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), as well as other state, federal and local agencies. She also handles traditional employment matters including federal and state trials, arbitrations and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
Additionally, Ms. Sheaffer represents clients in commercial litigation, including contract disputes, breach of warranty, premises liability and defective product defense, responsible third-party defense, commercial landlord-tenant disputes, collections, fraud, defamation and business disparagement.
Ms. Sheaffer is admitted to practice in Texas, Louisiana, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas and Northern District of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Firth Circuit and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, Magna Cum Laude, from Louisiana Tech University and a Juris Doctor from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University.
