Our clients are not limited by artificial boundaries or lines on maps. They build projects where the needs exist. They build those projects in the United States, China, Argentina, France, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Sweden, Chile, Thailand, Germany, Brazil, Canada, England, the Philippines, Italy, Peru, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Hong Kong, Israel, Australia, Norway, Singapore, India, The Netherlands, Ireland...and the list goes on.
And wherever that list goes and wherever our clients go, Peckar & Abramson attorneys go with them.
Our attorneys assist clients from project inception to post project dispute resolution. While Peckar & Abramson attorneys have aided in structuring projects in many countries, thats just the start. Just as with domestic projects, Peckar & Abramson attorneys are available throughout a projects life to aid clients in achieving their goal an on time, on budget, profitable project. That means being available whenever and wherever necessary. It means working closely with clients to avoid costly disputes. It means applying tools and techniques unique to international projects that only experience can teach. It means utilizing and accessing a network of international professionals developed over decades of international work.
The firm has assisted clients with projects of all sizes spanning six continents. At the intersection of multi-jurisdictional tax advice, corporate structuring, capital export restrictions, import/export duties and worker immigration restrictions lies the optimum project structure. With its own vast experience and a wide network of international professionals, Peckar & Abramson is able to assemble and manage an experienced organization of local legal, tax, import/export and other professionals to assist clients to approach and structure projects that efficiently meet their corporate objectives.
Peckar & Abramson attorneys have experience with all the widely used standard form international contracts whether its the EPC/Turnkey contracts of the Federation Internationale des Ingenieurs-Conseils (FIDIC), the Institute of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) Green Book for reimbursable projects or some other international standard. The firm also assists clients in developing contracts customized to specific projects or particular client needs as well as in the development of contract packages for subcontracts or purchase orders tailored to international projects.
While some firms may boast of experience structuring international projects, few can stand with a client throughout the entire project like the experienced attorneys at Peckar & Abramson. The firms attorneys bring more than legal experience they bring project experience. Many Peckar & Abramson attorneys have construction and technical backgrounds. They have been project engineers and project managers. Thus, when issues arise, the firm applies both legal and practical project experience to service our clients needs.

Despite all efforts, just as with domestic projects, disputes sometimes occur on international projects. International disputes arise in a myriad of forms. Most international projects avoid what can be unfamiliar and unpredictable local court systems and use alternative dispute resolution (ADR) techniques. A Dispute Review Board may be used on a project in Europe; after a mandatory mediation, a project in Thailand may be subject to arbitration under the Singapore International Arbitration Centre rules applying English law; or a Saudi Arabian project may be before the London Court of International Arbitration.
The effective and successful management of international construction disputes is a unique talent. Understanding and appreciation of cultural issues and the ability to navigate the complexities of varied jurisdictions (both legal and procedural) is not a skill that is taught, but rather learned through years of experience. Likewise is the special appreciation for the cultural and legal implications of settlement discussions, mediations and other pre-hearing techniques utilized to resolve disputes. Only through experience can one truly appreciate the complexities and develop the skills to be successful in international dispute resolution. Peckar & Abramson has that experience.
