Stephen Reisman is Vice Chairman of Peckar & Abramson, serves on the Firm’s Executive Committee and is the Co-Managing Partner in Florida. Mr. Reisman’s primary area of practice is Construction Law and he is certified by the Florida Bar as a Construction Law Specialist. His practice includes the representation of general contractors, construction managers and other construction professionals in the negotiation and preparation of construction documents, and the negotiation, mediation, arbitration and litigation of construction contract claims, construction and design defect claims, insurance claims, surety bond claims and related matters. Mr. Reisman’s construction law practice also includes project administration assistance for the early identification and resolution of potential conflicts and disputes.

Mr. Reisman has represented clients in all aspects of the procurement process for public and private construction, including airport, seaport, and infrastructure projects, as well as hotel, retail, hospital, and multi-family residential projects. He has litigated and arbitrated cases involving building cladding systems; roofing; foundations; reinforced, prestressed and post tensioned concrete construction; drywall assemblies; masonry construction; stucco and EIFS systems; metal, PVC and CPVC piping and many other building systems and components. He has also litigated and arbitrated delay and impact claims and presented requests for equitable adjustment on public works. Mr. Reisman has served as an Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association in many construction disputes, including large complex cases and international cases, and has served as Mediator in numerous construction and commercial disputes.

Mr. Reisman's general litigation practice includes real estate, banking, insurance and contract disputes, business torts and property damage claims.

Mr. Reisman is admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, the United States District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida as well as all courts of the State of Florida.

Mr. Reisman is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell and is listed in Chambers USA among the highest ranked construction lawyers in Florida. He is certified as a Specialist in Construction Law by The Florida Bar and is recognized by publications such as The Best Lawyers in America (chosen Lawyer of the Year in Construction Law for 2012 for Miami), The International Who's Who of Construction Lawyers, The Legal 500 and Florida Super Lawyers. Additionally, he served on the Construction Advisory Council of the American Arbitration Association and serves on the Advisory Counsel of Florida International University’s Department of Construction Management. He is a member of the American Bar Association (Construction Industry Forum and Litigation Section), the Florida Bar (Litigation and Business Law Sections), the Construction Association of South Florida and Associated General Contractors.

Mr. Reisman is an active Arbitrator and Mediator and is a member of the American Arbitration Association’s Panel of Arbitrators for Construction Industry Disputes.

Mr. Reisman has authored articles and conducted seminars on various construction law topics for The Florida Bar, National Business Institute, Construction Specifications Institute, Construction Association of South Florida, Southeast Construction, and Lorman Educational Services. Mr. Reisman is a graduate of Emory University (1973) and the University of Miami School of Law (1976).
