Paul Monte has more than 20 years of experience in construction, public contract and real estate law. He has extensive trial, arbitration and appeals experience, successfully prosecuting and defending complex multi-million dollar disputes on behalf of contractors and developers.

Mr. Monte represents civil and building contractors on large and small public and private projects, including bridges, tunnels, highways, process and power plants, sewage treatment plants, utilities, railroads, high-rise and institutional buildings. As lead counsel, he has successfully tried numerous jury and non-jury trials, arbitrations, and administrative hearings, and handled appeals in federal and state courts. He has prosecuted and defended complex delay and other cost overrun claims, successfully pursued wrongful termination claims, and multi-district litigation involving construction and material defects. Mr. Monte’s cases have resulted in numerous published decisions, and multi-million dollar recoveries or savings for clients.

Prior to joining Peckar & Abramson, Mr. Monte was a partner with Berman, Paley, Goldstein & Monte, LLP, which merged with Peckar & Abramson in 2007. He is also a former general counsel to a heavy construction company and builder.

Mr. Monte has been awarded Martindale-Hubbell’s highest AV-rating. He has also been recognized as a New York Super Lawyer in Construction Law and by Best Lawyers in America. Mr. Monte was a member of the Construction Law Committee and Real Estate Law Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He is a member of the American Bar Association, and the Westchester County Bar Association. Mr. Monte is active in many local and national construction industry groups and trade associations and has participated in numerous seminars and written articles on construction, public procurement and real estate law.

Mr. Monte is a graduate of the State University of New York at Binghamton with honors, and a Brooklyn Law School merit scholar.
