James L. Ferro is a partner in  Peckar & Abramson’s Los Angeles office.  Mr. Ferro has over 20 years of experience representing contractors, construction managers, public entities, private owners and developers, subcontractors and design professionals in construction claims and disputes, including delay and disruption claims, E & O claims, suretyship, defects, licensing and bidding issues and in the preparation and negotiation of contract documents.  He also has counseled clients on claims mitigation and avoidance, contract administration and project monitoring.  Additionally, Mr. Ferro has substantial experience in complex business and real estate litigation, and in counseling clients in general business, corporate matters and transactions.

Mr. Ferro is a frequent speaker on construction and real property topics and has served as a guest lecturer for a UCLA Extension Class in Construction Management.  He is also the co-author of Construction Change Order Claims (Aspen 1994) and Construction Change Order Claims, 2d Edition (Aspen 2005). Mr. Ferro’s accomplishments have been recognized by Los Angeles Magazine’s annual feature identifying its select list of Southern California Super Lawyers in Construction Law.

Mr. Ferro is a member of the State Bar of California (Business Law – Law Practice Management and Technology and Litigations Sections and Construction Law Subsection), the American Bar Association (Public Contract, Tort and Insurance and Litigation Sections, and Construction Industry Forum Committee) and the Los Angeles County Bar Association (Litigation Section).  He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and all U.S. District Courts (Northern, Southern, Eastern and Central) in California. 

Mr. Ferro is a member of the Board of Directors of the Westchester LAX Marina del Rey Chamber of Commerce.  He has been active in the Westchester Rotary Club, serving as President in 1997-98 and is a Charter Member in the Playa Sunrise Rotary Club.  He was elected to the Board of Directors of the Neighborhood Council of Westchester/Playa del Rey (for the City of Los Angeles) in 2002 and has served as Chairman of the Governmental Affairs and Planning and Land Use Committees.

Mr. Ferro graduated cum laude from California State University at Northridge with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Finance and Real Estate, and was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma honorary fraternity and Blue Key Honor Society.  Mr. Ferro earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles in 1983.
