Robert S. Hensel is a senior litigation associate specializing in construction law. During his career, Mr. Hensel has represented general contractors and other members of the construction industry as well as product manufacturers in multi-million dollar cases involving mechanic's liens, stop notices, surety obligations, indemnity, construction accidents, and claims of defective construction. Recent victories include: successfully opposing certification of a $10 million class action brought against a nationwide residential homebuilder; obtaining summary judgment in a $1 million-plus construction accident indemnity matter; and obtaining dismissal of a complex groundwater rights case brought against a large nuclear power plant operator. He has experience in large scale trials and in alternative dispute resolution methods and has used cutting edge computer technology to organize and manage documents and testimony, and present evidence in the courtroom. Mr. Friedman also has a special expertise in the real estate arena where he counsels real estate owners and developers in a wide array of areas including acquisition, development, financing, and disposition. He has also authored numerous articles in a variety of trade publications and journals.

Mr. Friedman received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory University and his law degree from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center. Felix X. Rodriguez is a multilingual litigation associate who focuses his practice on construction law, representing parties in the resolution of disputes through litigation, arbitration and mediation.

Prior to entering the legal profession, Mr. Rodriguez managed numerous residential housing projects from inception to bidding and actual construction as owner of a local construction company. He has been a licensed Florida Building Contractor since 2003.

A graduate of the University of Miami School of Law, Mr. Rodriguez was a Dean’s Scholarship recipient and a member of the nationally-ranked Moot Court Board where he was recognized for his oratory skills in the National Appellate Advocacy Competition. Jason D. Salvin is a senior litigation associate. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Salvin worked for many years with one of the nation’s leading builders and thus, brings to the firm an extensive knowledge and understanding of the construction industry. Brian Shue is a litigation associate. His practice focuses on construction law, representing construction managers, general contractors, specialty contractors, owners, developers, and subcontractors in the resolution of disputes through litigation, arbitration, and mediation. Mr. Shue’s practice also involves construction defect claims, delay and disruption claims, change order and extra work claims, mechanic’s liens, and drafting and negotiation of construction agreements.

Prior to practicing law, Mr. Shue worked with one of the nation’s leading builders and brings to the firm extensive knowledge and understanding of the construction industry. He held various positions in the industry including estimator, superintendent and purchasing manager.

Mr. Shue received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Princeton University in 2006 and his law degree from Florida International University in 2010. While in law school, he was a senior editor of the FIU Law Review. He also worked in FIU’s Community Development Clinic representing small businesses and nonprofit organizations.

Mr. Shue has extensive legal and scholarly writing experience. His law review comment was selected for publication in FIU’s Fall 2011 journal. His comment is titled Rights to Language Assistance in Florida: An Argument to Remedy the Inconsistent Provisions of Court Interpreters in State and Federal Courts. Mr. Shue also completed a senior thesis at Princeton University that involved a year of extensive research. His thesis is titled Diamonds in the Rough: The Evolution of Ballpark Architecture in the Context of American Urbanism.

Kathryn A. Slye is a litigation associate. Ms. Slye has litigated over 40 complex jury trials, including several high profile cases, to verdict. She has successfully negotiated, mediated, arbitrated and litigated a variety of construction defect claims, delay damages claims, design claims, lien claims, and other construction contract claims. In the business arena, she has negotiated and maintained dozens of diverse commercial business contracts, and has successfully litigated several contractual disputes. She has also provided comprehensive legal advice and has acted as lead consultant in multi-industry operations for a variety of business enterprises, ranging from construction firms, to sports franchises, to telecommunications companies. Michelle Benyacar is Special Counsel and a member of the Firm’s Construction Contract Review Program. Over the course of nearly eighteen years, she has developed an extensive knowledge base in all aspects of developing a Project, from the procurement process through closeout including the resolution of any related disputes. Currently, her primary focus is on contracts and risk management.

Ms. Benyacar’s vast experience in the industry includes the defense of architects and engineers and the preparation, review and negotiation of contracts on behalf of owners, construction managers, contractors, subcontractors, facility managers and architects and engineers. The spectrum of construction contracts she has worked on includes IPD, design-build, lump sum and cost-plus. She has also handled many matters surrounding the built-out project and project participants, including in connection with zoning, commercial leasing/loans, facility management, energy procurement contracting, IP protection and licensing.

For more than 50 years, Alvin Goldstein has specialized in and, as lead counsel, has tried numerous complex construction cases and written the briefs for and argued many appeals in various appellate courts. Richard H. Schwartz has broad-based experience in various corporate areas, including commercial, corporate and real estate finance; general corporate law; mergers and acquisitions; and capital markets. In addition, Mr. Schwartz has been involved with numerous reorganizations, workouts and restructurings.

Mr. Schwartz has extensive experience in counseling lenders and borrowers in secured and unsecured commercial, corporate and real estate financing transactions. He has represented domestic and foreign banks, investment funds and other financial institutions, both individually and as multi-lender syndicates, in structuring, restructuring and documenting sophisticated finance deals. Joseph B. Reisman’s primary areas of practice are in complex real estate and financing transactions, commercial leasing, and office building, retail and residential construction and development. He has represented developers in numerous condominium developments and marketing programs, and in the development, construction and leasing of shopping centers and office buildings. Also, he frequently represents clients in real property, landlord/tenant and foreclosure actions.

Mr. Reisman has extensive experience in representing clients in general business transactions and in corporate and other business entity formations and in the probate and administration of estates.

Mr. Reisman is the author of the Foreclosure of Construction Liens section of a real property litigation manual published by the Florida Bar. He has lectured on the Florida Construction Lien Law at a conference for Florida Circuit judges, and has also lectured on condominium developments at the Institute on Condominiums and Cluster Developments sponsored by the University of Miami.

Mr. Reisman is a founding director of the Economic Opportunities Legal Services Program of Dade County, Florida, a former member of the Citizens Task Force appointed by the County Commission of Dade County in the development of its master plan for land use and has served on boards appointed by various mayors of the City of South Miami, in addition to engaging in other civic endeavors.
